Review: Hunger Games Book 2

I am a book-aholic I must admit, and this drives me to search the internet for reviews about good books, and a number of convincing reviews compelled me to read the Hunger Games Book 2. When I read the first Hunger Games, I was so hooked up that I read the entire book within a day, and then lay daydreaming about how the plot would continue in the Hunger Games Book two. I actually spent the entire remaining day in the same frame of mind and kept plotting and re-plotting.

I was relieved when the seemingly long wait ended and the Hunger Games Book 2 came out. Once again, I thought I’d read it slow and savor every step, but I couldn’t stop myself and I read through, all in one day. Such is the charisma of this trilogy that one can’t stop feeling a part of the chronicle and in fact relives the emotion rich story. In every step of the story, there is an adrenaline rush which compels one to read on. If you too want to buy the Hunger Games Book 2, make sure you have ample time to read it in one go. Else, you definitely need to take a day off and when your book order arrives, devote your time and mind to it. Because once you start it, there’s no stopping it.

The characters that Suzanne Collins spins are very believable and one develops a bond with them. They are so alive and so there. In the second part , the story continues with Peeta and Katniss. It makes one feel like we’re living their life. The last book had ended with Katniss’s rebellion, and the Hunger Games Book two, picks the thread up just from there. With the pressure growing up due to the rebellion, the president is compelled forced to seek revenge and it is just jaw dropping as to how the story takes off from here. As a matter of fact I was so engrossed that my face emotions must have seemed real to anyone observing me. In fact, many a times, while reading Hunger Games Book 2, I just sat up with lightening speed at how deep the plot went.

Much as I am dying to tell you more, I would stop myself here, for I don’t want to spoil its intrigue for you. What is most captivating about the Hunger Games Book 2 is how the games are positioned as a modern mirror image of the brutal gladiator of the past. Here the meaning of winning and losing, of life and death, of fear and courage, all change and one is given a new perspective to the soft side of humans. It leaves one with an absolute emotionally charged mind and filled with more complex emotions towards ending the story.

Though The Hunger Games Book 2 was targeted towards the younger readers, yet it is has such an intricate ploy that even adults are drawn to its enigma. Thus, there is no age restriction I would say. As a matter of fact, I have recommended it most of my friend and much to my delight; they also read it and reciprocate my feelings towards the characters and the whole of the Hunger Games Book two. Like me they also are dying to buy the third one.

Contrary to what I have experienced, I came across in a review with an interesting critic about the Hunger Games Book two. It actually depicted the book as too violent and revengeful. Moreover, it also termed the main characters as more of imbalanced and irrational people. My only answer to it would be that it is indeed a book for the strong of heart, yet it is for those, whose hearts are soft enough to understand the cloud of emotions in it. Hunger Games Book 2, especially, does take one to the extremes of emotions and tests one’s heart and mind, to the fullest.

The Hunger Games Book 2 is available online in most of the online stores, where it is very easy to buy. On the other hand, if you cannot wait to lay your hands on it, then you can also buy it from any good book store. As a matter of fact, it is also due to come out in a movie. Much as I fear that movies don’t do books justice, I do hope that this once, the Hunger Games Book has is done justice!
